This Privacy Policy explains how the Overbox secure‑transport service ("Overbox", "we", "us") collects and handles information. We aim to collect as little as possible and to use it only to run, secure, and bill the Service, and to comply with the law.

2. Information we collect

Account information

When you sign up we collect the details you provide, such as your name, email address, the hostname(s) you configure, and billing information needed to provide the Service.

Technical / connection logs

To operate and secure the Service we record standard connection metadata, which may include source IP address, timestamp, requested hostname and path, response status, and bytes transferred. This data is used for security, abuse handling, troubleshooting, and usage metering.

We do not inspect or store the content of your traffic. Overbox is a transport layer: traffic passes through encrypted, and we do not record, retain, or analyse the media payloads themselves. We process connection metadata only.

3. How we use information

to provide, maintain, and secure the Service;
to meter bandwidth usage and bill accordingly;
to detect, investigate, and act on abuse or violations of our Terms of Use;
to respond to valid legal requests and copyright notices; and
to communicate with you about your account.

4. Legal basis

We process personal data where it is necessary to perform our contract with you, to comply with a legal obligation, or for our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service.

5. Sharing of information

We do not sell your data. We may share limited information:

with our infrastructure/hosting providers, strictly to operate the Service;
with rights holders, law enforcement, or regulators where required by law or to act on a valid copyright or abuse notice; and
where necessary to investigate or prevent fraud, security incidents, or violations of our Terms.

6. Data retention

We keep account data for as long as your account is active, and connection logs for a limited period appropriate for security, billing, and abuse‑handling purposes, after which they are deleted or anonymised, unless a longer period is required by law or an open legal matter.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold, including encrypted transport and restricted access.
